How the model works: gateways that are merchants of record (Paddle, Lemon Squeezy) collect and remit global VAT/GST on your behalf, so the tax line never touches your revenue. Plain processors (Stripe, PayPal, Square) leave the liability with you. Fees are charged on everything the customer actually pays. The honest answers

If nothing is uploaded, how does the PDF get made?
Toolfyt ships its own PDF writer. It lays out the page in points, embeds the standard PDF fonts, compresses the content stream, and assembles a valid PDF 1.4 file with a cross-reference table — the same structure desktop publishing tools produce. Your browser then hands you the bytes directly. Nothing is rendered by a server.
Where do my saved documents live?
In this browser's local storage, under a Toolfyt namespace. They are readable only by this site on this device, sync nowhere, and disappear when you clear site data. Pro's vault is a convenience feature, not cloud backup — export anything you'd miss.
Are the gateway fees accurate?
The model uses published standard rates and shows you every component — percentage, fixed fee, cross-border, FX, payout, disputes, and tax — so you can audit and override the assumptions. Real pricing depends on your volume, negotiation and region. Use this to compare structures, then confirm with your provider.
Who handles payments for Pro?
Paddle, acting as merchant of record. That means Paddle is the seller of record, handles global VAT/GST and sales tax on the subscription, processes the card, and manages refunds and cancellations. Checkout runs in Paddle's own PCI-compliant overlay — card details never touch Toolfyt.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancellation is instant and self-serve from the Paddle receipt link in your purchase email. You keep Pro until the end of the paid period, and nothing is charged again. We don't run retention gauntlets.
Does the free tier expire?
Never. Every tool works on the free tier, with a watermark on exported PDFs and the version vault locked. There is no trial countdown and no account required to start.
What happens to my data if I never upgrade?
Nothing, because we never had it. Free users' documents are just as local as Pro users'. The difference is watermarking and vault features, not privacy.
Is the service agreement legally binding?
The template covers the eleven clauses freelancers most often need — scope, deliverables, schedule, payment, IP, confidentiality, revisions, termination, contractor status, governing law, and entire agreement. It is a strong starting point, not legal advice. For high-value engagements, have a lawyer review the wording for your jurisdiction.
